Supetar is the easiest Brac base with a dog because the Split car ferry lands here and the town routine is simpler than Bol or Hvar. It offers harbour walks, short drives to quieter coves and the best island logistics for veterinary or ferry backup. It is not the most dramatic island town, but it is the most forgiving when you need predictable dog travel.

Pet city facts

Public transport
Supetar is Brac main ferry hub. Jadrolinija-style pet rules apply on crossings, and island buses are operator-specific.

Frequently asked: pets in Supetar

  • Are dogs allowed on the beaches?

Supetar beaches are seasonal and locally signed. Use marked dog-friendly areas or quiet rocky edges outside guarded zones.

  • What is the best dog walk?

The harbour and cemetery peninsula loop are the best short walks, with calmer residential lanes for shade.

  • Do dogs need a muzzle?

Croatia-wide dangerous-dog rules apply: restricted bull-type dogs and dogs formally classed as dangerous need extra controls, while ordinary dogs should be leashed in public. Public transport and ferries can require a muzzle for all dogs, so carry one even when you rarely use it.

  • Can I use public transport with a dog?

The Split-Supetar ferry is the key link. Expect outer-deck or carrier rules depending on dog size, and check island bus pet rules separately.

  • Where is the nearest emergency vet?

Supetar has island veterinary support, while serious cases may route to Split by ferry. Keep the ferry timetable saved.

  • Is this a good base for day trips with a dog?

Yes. Split, Bol, Vidova Gora and nearby Brac villages are all practical from Supetar.

  • How should I plan summer walks?

Plan around ferry crowd waves and avoid the exposed harbour in the afternoon. Island stone stays hot after sunset.
